  • Removed age limit for Trick or Treating! (used to be up to age 12)

  • Adopted an ordinance to amend the Town Code to use gender neutral language

  • Extended park hours at resident requests for outdoor exercise and enjoyment in the midst of COVID-19

  • Modified a noise ordinance related to construction activities to assist residents


July 2020

  • Apex is designated as a Bee City

  • Participation in the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge

  • Approved stipends for volunteer Board Members


June 2020

  • Allocated funding for police body cameras, and associated hardware and software

  • The first town-wide Environmental Sustainability Program established

  • Created an affordable housing fund for people with low incomes who are in need of home repairs like roofs, HVAC systems, and energy efficiency needs

  • Parking to dining program began in downtown to help support restaurants by creating more outdoor seating/dining due to COVID-19

  • Approved an “Adopt A Park/Adopt a Trail” program

  • Provided a $20K contribution to the Apex Chamber of Commerce’s Angel Fund – a fund created to support area small businesses struggling due to COVID-19

  • Provided an additional $20K to the Apex Chamber of Commerce to support operational expenses.

May 2020

  • 7% raise approved for all Town of Apex Staff to keep salaries competitive and to attract strong prospective employees

  • Hazard Duty Pay approved for all Town of Apex Essential Staff due to COVID-19


April 2020

  • Appropriated 1 million dollars to launch an emergency loan program for Apex small businesses impacted by COVID-19

  • Allocated funding to 4 non-profit agencies that were providing essential services to those impacted by COVID-19: Western Wake Crisis Ministry, White Oak Foundation, Transitions Life Care, and SafeChild


March 2020

  • Women’s History Month – 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment. Town Hall display on women’s suffrage by the League of Women Voters. Events at Halle planned but cancelled because of COVID-19. (Aug 18th official 100th anniversary)

  • Approved 3 weeks of paid caregiver leave for Town employees due to COVID-19

  • Suspended disconnections of water and electric services and late fees (the first municipality in Wake County to do this)

  • Approved a remote participation policy for Council meetings

  • Approved a 10-home affordable housing project on Kissena Lane (will be Habitat for Humanity homes)

  • Ordinance passed that disallows persons to carry (open or concealed) a firearm in government buildings or at an organized sporting event at any Town parks

  • Environmental Advisory Board created

I am enjoying Peak Academy with about 23 other Apex residents! This 12-session class RUNS FROM aPRIL TO oCTOBER AND provides comprehensive information on the many services provided by our Town Staff and employees!

May 6 - I had a wonderful time connecting with folks at Apex Peakfest!

Apr 27 - Think Apex Day - a community service event packaging comfort kits to be used by the American Red Cross.
