My Story

I was raised in the farming community of Belvidere, NC. I was taught to work hard, care for the environment and our natural resources, and nurture relationships with God, family, and community. After high school, I attended NC State and East Carolina universities. I earned a doctorate degree, became a school psychologist, and then worked in a number of our public schools. After I had my son Charlie, I decided to become co-owner of a private practice in an effort to balance the role of being a mother and mental health professional. I have been a small business owner since January of 2000. On another personal note, I manage the care for my disabled brother and was the donor for his kidney transplant in 2017.

In the fall of 1996, my husband Mark and I chose Apex as the place to raise our son Charlie. We enjoyed volunteering for various academic and athletic events as he moved through his K-12 years at Baucom Elementary, Salem Middle, and Apex High Schools. Over the years, we have enjoyed the friendly town atmosphere of Apex in addition to the rich economic, educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities offered here and throughout the Triangle region. Additionally, we are excited about our town’s commitment to renewable energy, biking, walkability, and the construction of Pleasant Park and our senior center.
